sHedway is a grassroots health promotion charity for suicide prevention and positive mental health in Australia’s shearing industry. 

Born from the sheds, for the sheds, we’re shearers, wool handlers, wool classers, and shed staff who’ve come together to strengthen the mental wellbeing of our shed family. 

We work to make it normal to talk about mental health — and to look out for ourselves and each other.

We run practical, relatable stalls and workshops across Australia, supporting our community with suicide safety and mental health first aid training. 

At the heart of it all are our sHedway Representatives — real people from the sheds, that we equip with the skills and confidence to recognise the signs, respond safely, and to encourage our mates to reach out to the experts when needed. Our mission? To see everyone in the shearing sheds looking after their mental health as well as a shearer looks after their shearing gear — or even better. Because we are the most important tool in our toolbox.
